Benitez: Kewell Can Go, Crouch Only For £15M

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez understands that Peter Crouch might be getting itchy feet as his season as an Anfield fringe player nears its end, but insists that he won't be a bargain signing for potential suitors.

In fact, the Spaniard appears to value the beanpole striker higher than he does long-time target Gareth Barry, about whose availability he has held talks with Aston Villa.

"Crouch wants to play every week but knows he must fight it out with Fernando Torres," Benitez insisted.

"We keep seeing Portsmouth linked with the player but we have had no offer as yet.

"A £15m price tag would not be unreasonable."

Benitez also reiterated that Harry Kewell is set for the exit door, revealing: "We have tried to come to an agreement with the player and his agent, but that has not been possible.

"Kewell will leave the club at the end of his contract."

Villa have reacted angrily to Reds-instigated swap deals for Barry. Rafa said on the matter: "I have spoken to Martin O'Neill, he knows my ideas.

"But we agreed to wait until the end of the season for any more discussions."

Crouch is said to covet a bumper wage packet of £80,000-a-week if he's to consider a summer switch.
