HISTORY 3: Andrea in the hearts
Andrea in the hearts
Since 12 years ago, April 25 is a sad day for the all Bianconeri people. It is in fact the anniversary of Andrea Fortunato’s death. In 1995, at only 23, the promising defender from Salerno lost his battle against leukaemia, and left everybody in great discomfort. In particular, all his team mates, who after few days, dedicated to him the conquered Scudetto. Also April 24 is connected with the name of Andrea. Just an year after, in 1994, because of the first signals of the disease, Fortunato played at Piacenza his last match with the Bianconeri’s shirt. During these 12 years, Andrea’s memory has remained alive in everybody’s hearts, not only in those who had the honour to meet him, but also in all the fans that supported him. Particularly touching the memory rendered by the whole Stadio Olimpico during the recent 109° Company’s birthday, last November 1st, when his number 3 shirt was collected by his brother Candido. In these years, there have been many initiatives on behalf of Andrea Fortunato. Above all, the Football Library opened few weeks ago, and that has his name. |

Verona 0-1 Juventus
A matter of head
Just as in the first round: Verona beaten 1-0 with an header. This time the protagonist is Jean Alain Boumsong, author of the winning goal at the 43rd minute of the first half. A very deserved win for the team of Deschamps. Many occasions created, mostly with Del Piero, one of the best. Not very happy notes the injuries of Giannichedda and Legrottaglie. These are three other golden points which make the finishing line closer. The three matches away started well. Now there’s just to repeat in Frosinone (Tuesday May 1st), and in Cesena (Sunday May 6, postponement). Serie B TIM 2006/07 15ª day, second round Verona, Bentegodi stadium Friday 27th of April 2007, 7.00 pm VERONA-JUVENTUS 0-1 GOALS: 43' Boumsong VERONA: Pegolo; Magliocchetti, Comazzi, Sibilano, Turati (89' Babù); Mazzola, Pulzetti; Cossu (54' Iunco), Greco (69' Cutolo), Ferrarese; Ferrante Subs: Franzese, Pedrelli, Da Silva, Giraldi Coach: Ventura JUVENTUS: Buffon; Zebina (62' Birindelli), Legrottaglie (81' Kovac), Boumsong, Chiellini; Camoranesi, Marchisio, Giannichedda (26' Marchionni), Nedved; Del Piero, Trezeguet Subs: Mirante, Venitucci, Palladino, Zalayeta Coach: Deschamps BOOKED: 22' Nedved, 70' Iunco, 81' Camoranesi, 90+1' Birindelli REFEREE: Trefoloni from Siena ASSISTANTS: Ivaldi and Alvino FORTH OFFICIAL: Zanichelli |

I Have A Great Rapport With Juve Fans, Admits Lippi
However the former Italian national team coach will not be returning to Turin to coach the Bianconeri as has been widely speculated in recent months.
Marcello Lippi has no intention of responding anymore to questions related to him being linked to Juventus as he believes that he has already answered that question too many times. "It's a question which I don't want to respond to, also because now Juve has a coach who is doing well. I don't want to get involved in such matters; I have great respect for all of my colleagues. "In Turin I was surely well, but it was the same for wherever I went to work, and still today I have a great rapport with the Juve fans." Another possible destination for the World Cup winning coach is Valencia. "It is an interesting club, but there was no contact with Amadeo Carboni (Director of Sports), with whom I have a very deep friendship." |

Cobolli Gigli: Buffon stays
Juventus chief Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has declared that Gianluigi Buffon will never be sold to Inter or Milan. The Bianconero has been paired with a summer move, after stating that he was missing Champions League football, and reports suggested that he might join one of the Milan clubs. “I want to tell our supporters who fear Buffon’s move to Inter that this is not only an absurd hypothesis, but it isn’t even an hypothesis,” Cobolli Gigli told Controcampo. “Honestly, if this were to happen it would just be too much, we would not be able to look them in the eye,” added official. “This is also more or less true for Milan. During the last Lega meeting I told both Massimo Moratti and Adriano Galliani that Buffon is untouchable. “They also asked me to inform them if we were to change our mind, but I replied this is not an option,” concluded the Juventino. The goalkeeper admitted over the weekend that his future has yet to be decided, as the reports hinting that he was close to joining one of the San Siro outfits were false. “I may stay, I might go, but nobody knows what I have decided – not even me. The only thing I feel that I can say is that I will not make the decision by myself. It will be in agreement with the club,” declared the world champion. |

Giuly Admits He Could Move To Juventus
Ludovic Giuly has admitted that should he leave, Juventus would be one of the clubs he would like to join.
The Frenchman has been on the fringes of the Barcelona first team since Lionel Messi's spectacular return from injury, and the frustration of not playing might finally be getting to him. His current contract runs out at the end of next season, and the winger has refused to extend it, preferring to see how much action he will get. "I would like to play more," he admitted on Catalunya Radio. "But I see myself at Barça next year, and will only leave if the president tells me that it is better for me to go." He also spoke about possible destinations should he pack his bags at the Camp Nou, insisting that it would be just as big a team. "I will go to an equal club, like Juventus," he declared. It is worth noting that Didier Deschamps and Ludovic Giuly go a long way back, the coach master-minding the winger's claim to fame with Monaco during the 2003-04 season, when the French side reached the Champions League final after beating the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea. Ludovic Giuly was the big star of that side, and that was what earned him his move to Barcelona. Javier Saviola, who played under Deschamps the following season, could also accompany Giuly to Turin. |
