Ronaldo signs new contract at Old Trafford
Ronaldo has snubbed repeated overtures from Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona to sign a multi-million pound five-year extension to his United contract. RE: [ Manchester United Fan Club ] - Man U 3 - 2 Milan ( HIGHLIGHTS )
![]() Solskjaer: We're Loving The Tension Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits United are relishing the pressure of two high-stakes games per week as the season enters its home straight. The Reds visit Everton on Saturday before travelling to Italy for the crucial Champions League semi-final second leg against AC Milan on Wednesday. Three Premiership matches in May - away to Manchester City and Chelsea and at home to West Ham - will then seal United's fate in the title race. Ole told us, "The atmosphere in the dressing room is very, very good. We've had a few injuries but that's just part and parcel of the game. "I think everyone's just looking forward to the next game. We're playing so many games, we don't have much time to train between the battles so we're just resting and recharging our batteries. "It's been a long season, we're in the home straight and now it's just about having the energy left in your legs. We've done all the preparation we can." |

RE: [ Manchester United Fan Club ] - Ronaldo Signs new contract.
![]() Giggs has Double vision Ryan Giggs insists United need to banish thoughts of Wednesday night's Champions League exit by focusing on a domestic Double. Despite the Reds' emphatic defeat to AC Milan, they remain five points clear in the race for the Premiership title with just three games remaining. There is also a tantalising FA Cup Final clash with Chelsea to come, and Giggs wants to set United on the way to the Double with victory in the Manchester derby this weekend. Speaking after the defeat in Italy, the veteran winger said: “We are still in a good position and our season is not over. “We still have a lot to play for and that’s what we have got to tell ourselves. We have got to look forward to Saturday. It is a big game and we have got to get ourselves up for it. “If we can get a positive result it will put us closer to the league and we have the FA Cup Final to look forward to as well. We are greedy and wanted to win everything, but there are still two trophies to earmark." Should United win at local rivals City on Saturday, they will be crowned champions on Sunday if Chelsea fail to beat Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. “Saturday was always going to be a big game," said Giggs. "But there’s even more riding on it now because we have got to go there and get the right result to put the pressure on Chelsea. “There is still massive potential throughout this team. We have shown that this year. Now we want to finish off the season on a high by winning the League and the Cup." |

RE: [ Manchester United Fan Club ] - Ronaldo Signs new contract.
![]() Ronaldo wins writers' award Cristiano Ronaldo has been voted Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers' Association - adding the award to his PFA Player and Young Player of the Year accolades last month. The Reds winger topped the journalists' poll ahead of Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, while Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes were third and fourth in the voting. It has been an incredible season for the 22-year-old winger, and the award is even more remarkable considering the reaction from the some fans and the press following England's exit at the hands of Portugal in the World Cup last summer. Chairman of the FWA, Paul Hetherington said: "After the events of last summer at the World Cup, the vote of the Football Writers' Association shows that what we are all interested in is honouring the best player in the country. "There has been no agendas carried over from last summer. "This was a heavy poll of our members. Cristiano has been a runaway winner, and deservedly so. We also know we have a player who is absolutely delighted and honoured to receive this accolade." Ronaldo will receive the trophy at the FWA Footballer of the Year dinner at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on May 17. |
