Granero And De La Red Restate Madrid Desire
On-loan Getafe midfielder Esteban Granero has once again stated that he's eager to return to Real Madrid and break into the full first team setup, as has his colleague Rubén de la Red... The 20-year-old made his name with Real Madrid C and the Madrid reserve side, Castilla, but failed to quite make the jump to the senior squad at the Bernabéu. However, he was regarded highly enough to be loaned out instead of sold, and now he plies his trade for the blancos' near-neighbours, Getafe. Nonetheless, he's made it clear that he's eager to return to his parent club and prove his worth. "I would love to earn a place at Real Madrid," he told a press conference. "Being part of this team is the dream of players from all over Spain, and indeed the world." ![]() Offering his thoughts on Getafe's season, he said, "We've reached heights nobody could have expected. Although we failed to progress in the UEFA Cup, things went well, and we did yesterday, too." Granero was referring to the 4-2 win over Almería, which he capped with a penalty. Rubén's Return? Also taking part in that match was Rubén de la Red, whose transfer to Getafe, while permanent, is subject to a buy-back clause. Madrid could well exercise their option to land the defensive midfielder - a prospect that excites the player greatly. "I want to concentrate on winning these last two weeks of the season, resting as much as I can - it's been a very long campaign - and hopefully return to Madrid," he said. The 22-year-old was recently called up to the full Spanish national side, and although he failed to emerge from the bench against Italy, he still stands a chance of going to Euro 2008. "I am very keen to help Spain in such a grand tournament," he concluded.

Saviola: Champions League Next
Real Madrid striker Javier Saviola is looking to win the Champions League next season following his side’s success in La Liga this term. Los Merengues strolled to the title this season after an excellent domestic campaign. On Wednesday they beat bitter rivals Barcelona 4-1 in El Classico at the Bernabeu, a result which bears testimony to their dominance in La Liga. ![]() Saviola has not played many games for Bernd Schuster’s side this season and he was absent for El Classico. However, he is looking ahead and his eyes are set firmly on the Champions League. “We have had an excellent season and we topped it off with a great win over Barcelona,” Saviola told Sport ES. “My dream would be to win the Champions League with Real and to play more regularly in the first team.” Despite being excellent in the league, Real have failed to show their class on the European stage and they will be hoping to re-establish themselves as the continent’s greatest club side next season.

Calderon To Offer €80m For Ronaldo - Report
Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon is ready to break the bank and offer Manchester United €80m (£63.4m) for Cristiano Ronaldo. According to Sport, Calderon is willing to emulate what Florentino Perez when he broke the world record transfer fee by signing Zinedine Zidane from Juventus in 2001. Real have been after Cristiano Ronaldo for quite some time and having failed to land Kaka and Cesc Fabregas in previous attempts, Calderon is ready to stop at nothing in order to take Ronaldo from the Theatre of Dreams and bring him to the Bernabeu. ![]() Reports in Spain have revealed that Los Merengues will be receiving bigger TV rights income and that the chief is not scared to spend the cash. Ronaldo earns €13m per season at United and his current deal expires in 2014. Calderon is interested but he said, “I do not want to make promises which cannot be kept but we are the richest club in the world.” When Calderon was elected president he made a promise that he would sign some great players such as Ronaldo and Kaka but it hasn’t happened just yet. One thing is for sure and that is Calderon would not be afraid to splash the cash, especially on the United star, who has set the world on fire this season with some brilliant individual displays.

Madrid Ready For Alonso Swoop
Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso could be the first Real Madrid signing this summer according to reports in Spain. Marca has claimed that Rafa Benitez has given the move the go-ahead and Alonso could be a Merengues player by the time he leaves for the European Championships. It seems as if Real are acting quickly as they do not want to lose out to other clubs who are also interested in the Liverpool midfielder. ![]() The Reds are asking for €28 million but it seems that Real will be able to complete the operation with €24 million. Reports have also suggested that Los Blancos may throw in Ruben de la Red in order to try and pay a lower transfer fee for their target. Juventus have also been after the midfielder but it seems likely that Real will land their man as Alonso is not keen on a move to Italy and instead he wants to return to his native Spain. Meanwhile, Bernd Schuster’s side will be hoping they can continue their La Liga triumph with a win against Real Zaragoza on Sunday.

Higuaín: I Never Lost Confidence
Gonzalo Higuaín has admitted that he never lost faith in his own ability when many were doubting that he could make the grade at Real Madrid. Having scored the goal that won Los Merengues the league and netting with his first touch against Barcelona, the Argentinian is suddenly the toast of the club, but things were different a few weeks ago. ![]() Reflecting on his barren patch, Higuaín revealed that with the help of his family and key players he never stopped believing that things would turn around for him. "I never panicked about whether I could score. At times I had terrible luck, but now I am scoring and hopefully removing any doubts from people's minds. But I never lost confidence in myself," he explained. "I have worked very hard and with the help of my father, and from Ruud (van Nistelrooy) and Raúl, I have managed to remain calmer in front of goal." After scoring the winning goal at Osasuna, Higuaín was slightly annoyed to be named on the bench again for the visit of Barcelona in midweek, but then came on to great affect. "I obviously wanted to play in el Clásico, just like every player does and I was annoyed when I was not in the team," he continued. "What I do remember is that I scored with my first touch and could not believe it. When I received the ball I scored and just shouted. I went crazy. The first touch I had and I scored. It was spectacular."

Van Nistelrooy Scores No. 100
Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy scored their 100th goal of the season in all competitions with his first-half strike against Zaragoza on Sunday. Van Nistelrooy made a scoring return to the first team after injury when he scored from the penalty spot in the 4-1 drubbing of Barcelona in midweek and made it two in two with his goal in the 25th minute of Sunday's match. The goal came after Robinho had cut in from the right and seen his effort saved by Zaragoza goalkeeper Cesar, only for the ball to drop invitingly into the path of Van Nistelrooy, who made no mistake tapping the ball into the empty net. ![]() Not only was it Van Nistelrooy's 14th goal of the season, but it was also the 100th scored by Madrid in all competitions this campaign and fitting that it should be two players who have played such important roles at various points of the season that combined to score it. Robinho did, of course, add his own name to the score-sheet with what looked at the time to be the winning goal, for his 11th of the campaign, and Madrid will hope to add further to their goal tally in their final league game at home to Levante - assuming of course that their opponents turn up
