The Brazilian custodian signed for the Giallorossi from Juventude in 2005 and has since gone on to establish himself as the team’s undisputed No.1.

Doni’s current deal with Roma was due to expire in the summer of 2009, and this has led to interest from a number of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Milan had especially been sniffing around as they search for a new shot-stopper for next season.

However all speculation over the player’s future has been put to rest, with the news that Doni has extended his deal until 2012.

A press release on the club’s official website reads: "Roma and Doni would like to make it known that they have reached an agreement for the extension and completion of the economic contract for the player, who will wear the Giallorosso jersey until June 30, 2012."

The memo also clarified the economic terms of the agreement: “Doni will earn €3.8m next season, €3.9m for the one after, €4.1m for the 2010/2011 season, up to €4.3m in 2011/2012.”

Juve Offer Iaquinta For Mancini




Mancini has been a key player for Roma over the past few years, however his contract expires in 2009, and he is almost certain to leave the club this summer having rejected a new deal.

Both Juventus and Inter have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian, with the former wanting him as a replacement for the probably retiring Pavel Nedved, and the latter viewing him also as a replacement, this time for the departing Luis Figo.

The Corriere says that the Bianconeri are set to win the race by offering striker Iaquinta in return.

The 28-year-old only signed from Udinese last summer, and despite a good season, he has become increasingly irritated at largely being a substitute for the prolific David Trezeguet and Alessandro Del Piero.

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti is in favour of the exchange as he is a huge admirer of Iaquinta, having successfully coached him at Udinese in the past.

Inter are likely to turn their attentions exclusively to Arsenal Aliaksandr Hleb as they look to solve their problem on the left hand side of midfield.

Aquilani Will Stay


A number of top clubs in Europe and in Serie A including Real Madrid, Juventus, Milan and Inter as well as a few from the Premier League have been linked with the majestic midfielder. However the agent believes that the Italian starlet will be staying with the Giallorossi.

“Sensi has made her intentions clear, she wants Aquilani to stay,” Zavaglia told Il Romanista.

“He is a Roma player and I don’t think the club will let players like Aquilani or De Rossi leave just like that. And to be honest I don’t think they will leave.

“I am not surprised that Aquilani is wanted by many European sides, he deserves it. He has been good this season although he has been hampered with injury.

“However he has recovered and so I think he will be playing before the season ends. As for the Euro’s, let’s hope he goes.”

Aquilani is one of Europe’s hottest properties and Roma will have a big fight on their hands if they are to ensure he stays on at Trigoria rather than be lured into a mega money move to one of the continent's greatest sides..
