yes it is a word and not a verb. depending on sentence it can also mean change of mind. when you change your mind, you already have something in your mind, and you just change it, in other words, you abandon your initial thoughts

" az beyn raftan " means "To Die"
for disappearance you can use " Mahv " محو [ which is arabic ]
ex. yedafe az jelo chesham mahv shod

or "napadid " [ which is farsi ]
ex. az jeloe cheshmam napadid shod
