In the reality, the car is not actually made out of silver but out of aluminium ("aluminum" to Americans), as are all A8s by Audi. It's about three times lighter than steel, yet a stiff body can be built from it, which is why most airplanes are also made from aluminium alloys.

This car was stripped off its regular paintwork. Then the aluminium was specially polished and finally sealed using clear varnish.
