Parviz Tanavoli, renowned Iranian sculptor was director of the sculpting department at the University of
Tehran for 18 years before he retired from his teaching duties in 1979.
Tanavoli has lived and worked in Vancouver since 1989. His latest solo exhibition was a retrospective
held in 2003 at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art. Prior to that he had held acclaimed solo exhibitions
in Austria, Italy, Germany, the United States, Britain and numerous other countries.
Tanavoli has a unique collection of "locks" which he has gathered from different centuries of Iranian history.
