My two cents on the new generation of persian/iranian music
This post is highly critical, so I'm sorry if I offend some of you, these are just my personal opinions.
First things first, what is with every singer having to take a head shot as the album cover? Lets face it people, most of the singers are pretty ugly, especially with those ridiculous hair do's. I'm sorry, but its the truth, I call it as I see it. Personally, it seems like producing an album gives them the privilege of stamping their face on the album cover, so everyone knows that "felaniyeha!" when he's on the street. Sadly, most seem to be singing for the fame and fortune (more so the fame), and aren't singing because they actually have a passion for it.
Are they out of some decent "arayeshgar's" or something out there?
Many of them are using the computerized effects to hide the uber crapiness of their voices. They sound horrible, but have a lot of money and are missing the fame, so hey why not give it to some random guy who's good with computers, take a picture of my face with the ugly hair cut, throw in some pointless lyrics with no foundation or depth to their meanings, use a $500 Korg keyboard for sound effects sake and use some of the default beats, and kaboom! You've got music!
Gentlemen, I'm sorry, but your music sucks and I'd rather sit at home and watch Indian Bollywood movies (which I truly hate) than to listen to this garbage you call music. The fact that I have to spend downloading it, painfully listening to parts of it, then end up deleting it is a waste of my time.
On the bright side...
There is some hope with some of the singers I've been listening to. Flat out, Ehsan KhajehAmiri is hands down amazing. The man can sing, and he knows what to sing too. None of that pointless "doostet daram, doostam nadari" dramatic junk. His songs actually have meaning to them as with Reza Sadeghi. Like any other singer, they have songs that are less desirable, but overall I think they're legit, and deserve the recognition they're probably not even looking for. Props to them, and others like them that are following the paths of genius musicians.
