China suspected in Cyber Attack against U.S Nuclear Lab

In the ending of October this year, the 'Oak Ridge National Laboratory' which is a nuclear weapon research facility in U.S, was targeted in a very sophisticated cyber-attack, and the attackers gained access to parts of the database. Details of the attack was kept secret and not released until a few days ago.

Officials say thow, that the attackers did not gained access to any true sensitive parts, but nevertheless their system got breached n it would be just a matter of time before the attackers could elevate their privileges and go even deeper.

The attack which is suspected to be originated from China, had targeted over 1100 employees of the lab and sent very believable n official-looking e-mails to those employees and hoping for some ppl to open the dangerous attachments. / The attachments included in the e-mails were custom-made trojan horse which were not detectable by any anti-viruses at the time.

11 Employees (which is 1% of the targeted) did open the attachments and were immediately infected.

US-CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) has later warned both government and the private sector for more this kind of attacks in the future, where attacks are specialized and 'tweaked' to penetrate single targets without any alarms to go off.
