Carbon foot print, what is it?

Many of your actions generate carbon emissions, which contribute to accelerating global warming and climate change. This is called your carbon footprint an indication of the effect you have on the climate in terms of the total amount of greenhouse gases you produce (measured in units of carbon dioxide). The first step to taking effective action is to reduce your carbon footprint. Whats left over can be offset through donating to plant trees with PATT, thereby minimizing your personal impact on the climate. Offsetting means planting trees that will absorb the amount of carbon you want to offset, from the atmosphere.

The average personal carbon dioxide emissions for an individual in the developed world are 9.675 metric tonnes per year. How Many Trees is That Over My Lifetime?

On average, a tree will absorb approximately 20.3 kg of CO2 per year over its lifetime. If planted now, your trees should outlive you. This means they will work for you for the rest of your days. It takes about 477 of our trees to absorb your 9.675 tonnes.

U.S. uses nearly 25% of the world’s fossil fuel/energy and therefore creates the most CO2 on Earth. And yet it’s the only developed country that has not ratified the Kyoto Protocol(whose objective is to reduce the greenhouse gases)

What a nerve!!!!
