Special achievements
One of only two players to have won both the PFA Players' Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year awards in the same year, the other being Andy Gray in 1977. Also won the PFA Fans' Player of the Year award, becoming the first player to win all three Professional Footballers Association awards in one season. Only the third player in Premier League history to win back-to-back Barclays Player of the Month awards, and the first since the 1995-1996 season. Only the second player in the history of English football to be named both the Football Writers' Footballer of the Year and PFA Players' Player of the Year in successive seasons. Holds the Premier League record for most goals scored in one season by a midfielder, having scored 17 times during the 2006-2007 Premier League campaign. (Unofficially he has already broken this record since, as of 3rd May 2008, Ronaldo has scored 30 times in the 2007-2008 league campaign, only one behind the highest tally in a 38-game season. However, the official total will not be registered until the end of the season.) One of only two players to feature in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for the 2005-2006, 2006-2007, and 2007-2008 seasons, the other being Steven Gerrard. |

Football Writers' Player of the Year Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year United Players' Player of the Year United Goal of the Season (Portsmouth) Barclays Player of the Season Barclays Golden Boot Barclays Merit Prize Ronaldo clinches awards treble Cristiano Ronaldo today picked up the Barclays Player of the Season and Barclays Golden Boot award to complete a sensational season. The 23-year-old Portuguese wing wiazard also collected a merit award for reaching 30 league goals this season. Ronaldo was pivotal in United's Barclays Premier League title success and it was no surprise that he earned the Barclays Player of the Season accolade for the second year in succession. Whichever way you look at it, Ronaldo has been exceptional this season, and the stats back it up. His 31 goals from 34 league appearances helped see off stiff opposition for the awards from Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor and Fernando Torres of Liverpool. It's the first time a player has scored more than 30 league goals in a season since Alan Shearer’s 31-goal haul for Blackburn Rovers twelve years ago. The merit award for reaching 30 goals will also benefit one lucky charity as Ronaldo will receive £1,000 for every goal scored to be donated to a charity of his choice.
